There are several reasons why you may need a tooth extraction. While we make every effort to avoid extractions with root canals and other procedures that could save your tooth, sometimes extractions are necessary. Usually, if a decision is made to extract a tooth, it is because the decay is too severe. However, there could be other reasons for tooth extractions including:
- You have impacted teeth and a tooth needs to be removed before it fractures or shifts neighboring teeth, such as a wisdom tooth
- You have advanced periodontal disease
- You have a severely cracked teeth or your tooth is severely malformed
We can only determine if you need an extraction when you come in for a dental exam. If an extraction is unavoidable, we will set you up with a treatment plan.
If you have a wisdom tooth or teeth that are erupting into areas where there’s no room, this can cause crowding and pain, or damage nearby teeth and bone. At Austin 3D Dental, we offer wisdom tooth extractions to avoid any complications. As with all extractions, the first step is coming in for an exam. We will take x-rays to see how your teeth are growing, and the exact positioning of your teeth. We will then come up with a treatment plan to have the tooth extracted.
If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort due to a wisdom tooth erupting, contact our office today for an exam.
